Winstonberry is located in a beautiful grade II listed country town house in Gainford, Darlington.
We occupy both the ground and first floor with our café, shop and holiday apartment/ B&B, all of which have undergone complete transformation and opened in Summer 2018!.
Our 3 boutique bedrooms have been decorated and furnished to a very high standard. They all have gorgeous sash windows and overlook the pretty village green and outside terrace.
Gainford is a beautiful, historic village which sits on the bank of the River Tees in County Durham.
It was once cited as one of England's prettiest villages and has a mix of amazing architecture including the Jacobean Manor House, the Georgian High Row & medieval Village Green.
The apartment is ideally situated just off the A67 between Darlington & Barnard Castle, making it easily accessible and a great place to stay if you're looking to explore the area, whilst enjoying the tranquility of a quiet village setting. With the Yorkshire Dales, Weardale & Teesdale all right on the door step, there is so much to see and do near by.Local attractions include the beautiful Bowes Museum, Raby Castle, Richmond Castle, Hamsterley Forest & More!
Location & Getting to us
Geographically Gainford is halfway between Barnard Castle and Darlington. Situated on the A67 and just 20 minutes from the A1 and nearby Darlington Train Station, it boasts excellent access.
By car Gainford can be accessed via the Piercebridge exit on the A1. Follow the signs for Piercebridge and pass through the village. Turn left at the junction (The Fox Hole directly ahead) onto the A67 heading for Barnard Castle. You will come into the village after a six minute drive.
Darlington is on the main Edinburgh/Glasgow to London route for East Coast and Cross Country Services. Head out from Darlington in the direction of Barnard Castle, via A67. Gainford is eight miles from the town.
