Hello & welcome to Winstonberry!

Well, it's been a long time coming. We have searched and searched and searched some more, for the perfect site for our business, and finally we believe we have found it. A stunning, four double bedded, Georgian town house, overlooking a very pretty village green, in Gainford, County Durham.

It's really strange because many years ago we were gazumped (if that's the correct term), when trying to buy a house in this village. We were absolutely gutted at the time, but believed we were obviously not meant to live there. And that was true, as we found a fabulous alternative property - but I guess there was a connection to this place, and it has surfaced, eventually.

So, leap forward in time by about 14 years, and here we are, back in lovely Gainford once again. But this time, we've arrived here, to find a beautiful period property in a most lovely spot. Absolutely perfect for our plans. We have wanted to open a Café and Boutique Hotel for some time, but various things have happened, and it just never came to fruition. This just feels right. And we are absolutely delighted and very excited, and can't wait to get going with it all!

You will see we have started our on line shop - offering lots of gifts and unique items, which can be delivered direct to your door. http://www.winstonberry.myshopify.com We have lots more, exciting things to add over the coming weeks and months, and can't wait to share them all with you.

The cafe.... well, that's a bit of a story. You see, as a family, we are all 'foodies'. We just love good, wholesome, well cooked produce. And there's nothing better than to find a nice restaurant or café or pub that offers a good menu, particularly prepared with a great selection of fresh ingredients. With a veggie in the family, we find most often that cheese or mushrooms are the only options - so we've said for a very long time now, 'one day, we'll open our own place, and serve good food, with decent veggie options, maybe some vegan ones too and use good, cruelty free, outdoor reared, locally sourced meat'..... and low and behold, here it is - on its way! We are currently working on all sorts of things, but we will pay great attention to our produce and our menu!

With a history of renovating property, interiors and design schemes are a passion too, and our friends and family always enjoy coming to visit and stay. So again, we've said, it would be lovely to run a small Boutique B&B. Somewhere nice, with lovely decor and very friendly and welcoming. Well.... we are very eager to do the 'make over' and transform this tired old place from its magnolia walls and boring interior, to something far more deserving. Something tasteful - give it a bit of a wow factor.

We are keen to create a bustling, vibrant hub of good food (hopefully serving wine and local beers - subject to getting a licence), comfortable rooms, tasteful and carefully thought out. As well as our unique gifts and home items, (many of which, we will be using ourselves in room make overs upstairs) we plan to eventually have a small deli offering scrumptious foods and ingredients from our menu. There is also a special event room, from which, will be planning an exciting programme of all sorts of lovely day sessions - arts and crafts days, yoga sessions and meditation sessions, and perhaps even hire it out for small weddings and party events. It's going to be really gorgeous (it has a lovely original fire place as a central feature - chimney sweep needed!) offering a lovely chilled atmosphere.

So people, Yes! We have lots and lots of plans! And we are going to be very busy in the next few weeks. Tools, paint brushes, new everything.....phew.... we'll be armed and dangerous! We invite you along to follow our journey... Come with us, enjoy the highs (and not too many lows hopefully), the triumphs and the pleasures. We look forward to making lots of new friends - and will welcome our 'old' friends with open arms.

This place is going to be magic..... We hope you will visit..... very soon
